Hello friends

We just got back from our daily walk...me and Mino. Last week the lake was frozen in parts...calm to no wind with temps below freezing...creating pancake ice turning to a thin glaze in the warmth of the day. When the wind came up, those thin panes of glass were blown into piles of icy shards that tinkled and glistened in the sun...and then were gone the next day. Today the water is icy, yet there is no ice...the wind will not allow it to form. Movement is funny like that...

Pete Stauber: Support the Constitution, not Authoritarianism!

When:
Saturday, December 6, 2:00–3:00pm
Where:
The Corner of Miller Trunk Hwy & Lavaque Road
Hermantown, MN

December 6th is the 160th Anniversary of the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery. Let's celebrate it with a rally at Rep. Pete Stauber's office calling on him AGAIN to do his job: to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and to put the interests of the people of the 8th District first. There's still time for him to repudiate his actions which have harmed our families, our farmers, our educational institutions, our children, our health system, our environment, and our international leadership in global alliances. That list could go on.

Signs of rising authoritarianism and fascism are everywhere: troops on the streets, altering electoral maps, threatening judges and the media, appointing lackeys to leadership, suppressing the vote, ignoring due process, pardoning criminals, sending masked ICE agents to terrorize our neighborhoods, ordering the Navy to kill people on the high seas, cozying up with other autocrats, disappearing people with secret deportations, and on and on. Even though corruption and lawlessness is being normalized, we still must say NO! And we must do so non-violently.

Join us on December 6th from 2 to 3 pm at 5094 Miller Trunk Highway. We must not be silent. Bring your signs of solidarity, your signs against fascism, your signs for No Kings! We will not give up.

Hosted by Solidarity in Action

When:
Thursday, December 4, 7:00–8:30pm EST
Where:
Online

Many of us entered movement work out of urgency and many of us are exhausted by it. The Resilience Toolkit offers an embodied, justice-aligned framework for sustaining activism over the long arc of the struggle. Rather than treating burnout, reactivity and conflict as personal failures, The Toolkit helps us understand them as predictable stress and trauma responses - and equips us with real-time regulation skills that expand our capacity to stay engaged without collapse or numbness.

Calls to Action

Extend the Affordable Care Act Premium Tax Credits

from 5calls.org

Despite extremely high public support for extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, the legislative deal to end the government shutdown does not include any provisions to sustain ACA tax credits. Republicans are also now seeking to add new abortion restrictions and other policy changes to any extension agreement. Congress must act immediately to preserve affordable health insurance for millions before costs skyrocket at the end of year.
