Ten Ways You Are Being Burned by Billionaires

from Inequality.org

"People with wealth north of $40 or $50 million have every need and desire met and easily accumulate power. They’re not just buying mansions and private jets but also lawmakers and media outlets. That’s when we need to sound the alarm about 'the billionaires.'"

Economic Malignancy: The Swelling Wealth Share of Our Richest 0.00001 Percent

"In 2024, the Journal noted, the wealth of America’s top 0.00001 percent — our 19 richest billionaires — increased by $1 trillion, to about $2.6 trillion. Their share of the country’s wealth jumped from 1.2 percent in 2023 to 1.8 percent in 2024, the largest annual increase ever.

"Did 2024 rate as just a one-off?

"By all appearances, no. Last year simply rates as just another year in the ever increasing concentration of American wealth. And power. That concentrating has continued, at full speed, this year. As of October 28, the wealth of our top .00001 percent sits up an additional $670 billion, a whopping increase of 25.8 percent over its year-end 2024 level."

Freedom Trainers

Collective Noncooperation Training for these times

As individuals, groups, and communities we can refuse to cooperate with official policies and actions nonviolently. When we take away our acquiescence at a massive scale, undemocratic actors can be stopped in their tracks.

We are a loose network of trainers teaching folks about these powerful tools of collective noncompliance and mass noncooperation based on tried and true tactics used by movements from around the world fighting against authoritarianism.

Resilience For Sustainable Activism

Hosted by Solidarity in Action

When:
Thursday, December 4, 7:00–8:30pm EST
Where:
Online

Many of us entered movement work out of urgency and many of us are exhausted by it. The Resilience Toolkit offers an embodied, justice-aligned framework for sustaining activism over the long arc of the struggle. Rather than treating burnout, reactivity and conflict as personal failures, The Toolkit helps us understand them as predictable stress and trauma responses - and equips us with real-time regulation skills that expand our capacity to stay engaged without collapse or numbness.

Calls to Action

Re-posted from last week

We Ain’t Buying It

This Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday — hit pause on shopping from major corporations.

With the holiday season approaching, let’s make our dollars count.

We have power as consumers and we can leverage that power to protect our democracy and send a powerful message to companies: When you support Trump, we don’t support you.

Join the We Ain’t Buying It campaign and take action over Thanksgiving to pressure companies to stop colluding with the Trump administration and enabling their authoritarian overreach.

Mass Blackout

Another initiative

This is a coordinated economic shutdown—a collective refusal to participate in a system that profits off our pain, exploits our labor, and buys our politicians.
